Some thoughts for those who find themselves starting over again and again and hopefully for the last time.....

Who serves who??
This is not going to be a long drawn out post, just something quick that hit me the other day and I want to at least mention it. When our country was getting started and the government got implemented or was being set up, I believe we as a new nation decided to have certain individuals who live among us be chosen to represent the mass majority. The idea was and is a good one because obviously it would be a long waiting line to speak to the man in charge (or woman in charge someday ). The problem is that over time those who get elected wind up having us serve them somehow or another. They give themselves raises and take pricey vacations, drive expensive cars, eat high dollar foods and who knows what else they do with all that money, meanwhile we, the people who have to trust them, fall down and can't get back up due to recessions and the rise in prices on almost everything except our wages. Maybe I just expect too much from a government that was instituted to serve and protect the people and it seems that more and more of the general public are losing their jobs, homes and such and the Senators and Congressmen continue getting raises and bigger vacations. Someday things will turn around I think, just not sure how or when it will happen.

Father's Day
Tomorrow is Father's Day. What exactly does it mean to be a father? Some people say anyone can be a father but it takes someone special to be a daddy. I agree with that, there are many fathers in this world who drift through life not really knowing their kids. I have two daughters who are 10 and 8 and there is nothing I don't know about them. My girls know they can talk to me about anything and that they can trust me to do what is in their best interest. They tell me things that I think a lot of kids would be hesitant or scared to tell a parent much less a dad. I cherish every moment of their lives, I do not want them to grow up yet I want to see them succeed in life and prosper and be happy. I like to hear about their day at school or how their visit with their mom or grandparents went because I do care how they feel and what they are thinking and what they wonder about. All the things that run through a child's head that some people find annoying and take for granted I enjoy hearing. I think it is astounding what kids at that age are capable of figuring out and understanding. Sure kids are going to fight sometimes and bicker, but it's a part of their lives and I want to be there for every part of it. If you are a father and reading this, take the time to get to know your kids, let them know that you will always be there for anything at all, even if you are watching the Super Bowl and something that is on their mind has upset them that you will give them all of your attention to listen to what they have to say and try to help them in any way you can. Kids are only kids for a little while, then they grow up and go to college, get jobs, get married and will have families of their own that will take up most of their time, so cherish and enjoy every single moment you have with them while they are still kids and still need their Daddy every day. Happy Father's Day to all of you!

You cannot be a leader of men...
I have had the fortune in the past to be in a position to manage and lead other people in work and in the military. I have also been on the other side and been a follower. As a follower you watch and listen to your boss or superior and inside your head you are judging them on their leadership, whether or not they are fair, understanding, knowledgeable, patient, helpful and so on. As a leader you watch your guys when you give directions to see if they learn, adapt, solve problems and so on. When I ran the shop at a former company I tried my best to be helpful and teach guys all that I could and knew that it wouldn't always happen right the first time, but I treated them with respect and did not try to humiliate them in front of others. The person I work for now is 25 years old and has no clue as to what a leader is. I believe he got his position because his father is VP of Operations. He had no prior experience in our area of work, his only management experience came from restaurants and they were probably high schoolers. Not sure where I am going with this other than some people are just not meant to be leaders in this world. You cannot be a leader of men without humility, learn from God's only son. That is the best advice I can give anyone about being a leader...

Why we love to live...
There are many reasons why we love to live our lives. Some say it is for companionship, friendship, children, religion and countless others. I think we love to live our lives because of possibilities. The possibilities that present themselves at different times in our lives, whether they are love related, work related, family related it makes no difference. It's the hope and the possibilities of what may be that drives us day in and day out.

The 11am Conspiracy...
Today while at work I wondered what to talk about today, then my not-so-good boss gave me something to talk about for a couple of minutes. I build, or actually rebuild diesel fuel injectors, it's not a bad job but it's not exactly what I like to do, in any case it pays the bills. So after we rebuild our injectors they are put on a test bench to see if they work or not, most of the time they work the first time but every now and then you have to redo it again for one reason or another. Today I had one fail on the test bench as did my coworker. Our not-so-cool boss comes and asks us to join him for a minute in the test area. He says to us "What happened at 11am this morning?" Well, not sure where he was going with this I said " We built injectors, just like we do every day." So he shows us two injectors that are failing and says "One is yours and one is his, they were both built around 11am, so what was going on at 11am?" I just repeated my answer for lack of a better one. When my coworker and I got back into the assembly room I look at him and say "Maybe it's a conspiracy to take down the whole company, one injector at a time..." Not sure what runs through my not-so-bright bosses head sometimes but that one really was kind of....odd. Until tomorrow, have a good day :)

Another week begins...
It's just before 5am and I am wide awake. I don't have to be to work until 8am so this kind of sucks, but what can you do...so here I am wondering what to talk about at this time of the morning. The Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Championship last night, so there will be lots of excited people here in Texas over the next couple of days. Talked to my little girls last night, they are visiting their mother this week, they seemed pretty happy, sounded like they are having a good time. I need to get some followers on here so I can have more to talk about, need some people to ask questions so I have some topics to choose from I think...well until I can decide what else I want to talk about I wish you all a very good monday, or at least as good as a monday can be....

First Of Many
Well today is the first day of many to come on my new blog, going to really dig in and see how this all works. Amy and I are looking to venture in to new territories online so here we are and hoping that it goes as planned. The weekend has been a fairly relaxing one and I hate to see it end. I will be thinking of topics to tackle on here and see if I can help anyone who may be reading this.
